At just 12 years old, Lucas lost both of his legs and most of his right arm in a devastating train accident. Instead of letting the tragedy claim his future, he channeled his energy into diverse passions. He achieved a career high ranking of World No. 2 in the quad division, the 2013 US Open Singles Champion, the 2016 Australian Open Doubles Champion and won a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, securing Africa's first-ever Paralympic wheelchair tennis medal alongside Donald Ramphadi.
Beyond the tennis courts, Lucas is a dynamic multi-sport pioneer who has proudly represented South Africa in both wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby. Driven by a deep love for rhythm and expression, he has also launched a successful music career, releasing a hit CD.
Lucas's exceptional impact on and off the court has also earned him some of the highest sporting and cultural honors in the nation, and was the subject of the international award-winning documentary "Against All Odds," which won Best Short Form Documentary at the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) Awards in London.

Diagnosed with brittle bone disease at age 12, Donald went from an active child to suddenly being unable to walk. He lost his mother at a young age and took on the responsibility of caring for his siblings. Yet, Donald refused to let circumstances dictate his destiny. He fought his way to a career-high World No. 4 singles ranking, became the 2023 French Open Quad Doubles Champion, and made history with his partner, Lucas Sithole, at the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 by securing Africa's first-ever Paralympic wheelchair tennis medal.
